Decolonizing Governance to Be By The PEOPLE

United Nations controlled by 5 countries reflects colonial echoes, now inequality is controlled through their vetoes and ignoring of International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings.

How Can We Achieve This Together

PEOPLE

  1. Participate in Democratic Processes: Exercise civic rights and participate actively in democratic processes at all levels, including elections, referendums, and public consultations, to ensure that governance reflects the
    will of the people.
  2. Hold Leaders Accountable: Hold elected officials and leaders accountable for their actions and decisions, demanding transparency, integrity, and responsiveness to the needs and interests of the population.
  3. Organize and Mobilize: Organize and mobilize within communities and social movements to advocate for democratic governance and social justice, amplifying marginalized voices and advocating for inclusive decision-making
    processes.
  4. Stay Informed: Stay informed about global issues and developments, seeking out diverse sources of information and critically evaluating news and media narratives to make informed decisions and engage in constructive dialogue.
  5. Build International Solidarity: Build solidarity with people around the world who are struggling for democratic governance and human rights, recognizing that democracy is a universal value that transcends borders and cultures.

ORGANIZATIONS

  1. Advocate for Democratic Reform: Advocate for democratic reforms within international institutions like the United Nations, calling for greater transparency, accountability, and representation in decision-making processes.
  2. Support Grassroots Movements: Support grassroots movements and civil society organizations advocating for democratic governance and participatory decision-making at local, national, and international levels.
  3. Promote Civic Education: Develop and promote civic education programs that empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to engage in democratic processes and advocate for their rights and interests.
  4. Facilitate Participatory Processes: Organize participatory processes such as citizen assemblies, town hall meetings, and online forums to enable meaningful public participation in decision-making on issues of global importance.
  5. Foster International Solidarity: Forge alliances and partnerships with organizations and movements working towards democratic governance and social justice around the world, amplifying voices and building collective power.

GOVERNMENTS

  1. Promote Multilateralism: Advocate for a more inclusive and democratic multilateralism within international institutions, pushing for reforms that give voice and representation to all member states, regardless of size or
    power.
  2. Respect International Law: Uphold international law and respect the rulings of international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, as a cornerstone of a rules-based international order.
  3. Ensure Accountability: Hold governments and international institutions accountable for their actions and decisions, promoting transparency, oversight, and mechanisms for redress and accountability.
  4. Empower Civil Society: Create an enabling environment for civil society organizations to operate freely and engage in advocacy and watchdog activities, recognizing their role as key actors in democratic governance.
  5. Support Democratic Movements: Stand in solidarity with democratic movements and civil society organizations advocating for democratic governance and human rights around the world, providing diplomatic and moral support
    where possible.

PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT

The Berlin Conference of 1884 divided Africa among European countries (Germany, France, Britain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, and Spain) without any African representation and imposed inhuman treaties and disregarded cultural
realities. Followed by exploitation and genocide as seen in the examples of Belgium King Leopold II’s Congo Free State Genocide of over 10 million and German in Namibia Genocide of tens of thousands.

Can You Imagine A world where violence is not a means of resolving our differences?
