Regardless of the form of government a country adopts, the essence of true governance lies in the empowerment and involvement of ordinary citizens in decision making processes. A system where the final decision making power is not vested in the hands of common everyday people remains inherently colonial, as it perpetuates a fear of the views or voices of the populace. This fear, rooted in the desire to maintain control over the people, undermines the principles of equality, freedom, and democracy.
