π The Vision
The Damara, Herero, Kavango, Nama, Namibia, Ovambo, Ovahimba, San, and Topnaars (!Aonin) Peopleize Decolonize Communities Corridor represents a fundamental shift in how we think about agriculture, community, and survival. This is not farming as usualβthis is decolonizing agriculture by returning land, knowledge, and decision-making power to Namibia’s first peoples and the nation as a whole.
The corridor spans 33 km in width and 1,600 km in length, encompassing approximately 52,800 kmΒ²βroughly 6.4% of Namibia’s total land area. It runs from the /Ai-/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park in the south to the Hartmann Mountains in the north, behind the Namib Desert.

The Math Behind the Vision
The Government of Namibia has set an ambitious goal of 80% food self-sufficiency by 2030. The Peopleize Decolonize Communities Corridor is designed to achieve this β and then go beyond. With 1 million family farms, Namibia can feed its people and share abundance with the continent.

Fog-harvesting centers, rainwater catchment, solar-powered purification, and community-managed water systems ensure clean water for every family.

Each family farm produces diversified crops, livestock, eggs, honey, fish, and medicinal plants, creating food sovereignty and health sovereignty at the household level.
Shelter
Modernized traditional housing built with local materials (compressed earth bricks, hempcrete insulation, hemp-based building materials), solar/wind electricity, and passive cooling.
Clothing
100% hemp fabric productionβfrom seed to garmentβproviding sustainable, durable, and comfortable clothing for all community members, reducing dependency on external supply chains.
Healthcare
Community-managed wellness centers integrating traditional medicine with modern practices, preventative care, holistic health for people and nature, and on-site medicinal plant gardens.

From South to North β Anchored by Protected Areas
1. /Ai-/Ais-Richtersveld
Southern anchor. A botanical hotspot and home to the Fish River Canyon. The name derives from the Nama language, meaning “burning water.”
2. Namib-Naukluft NP
Central desert anchor. Originally a sanctuary for Hartmann’s mountain zebra. Connects the desert to the escarpment.
3. NamibRand Reserve
Private conservation area demonstrating successful restoration of overgrazed farmland through rewilding.
4. Dorob National Park
Coastal anchor. The heart of the fog-harvesting zone where air water collection is viable.
5. Torra Conservancy
Community anchor. A communal conservancy where Nama-Damara, Riemvasmakers, Herero, and Owambo people manage their land and wildlife together.
6. Hartmann Mountains
Northern frontier. Communal land held by Himba village communities, reaching the Kunene River border with Angola.

The Family Farm Unit
Each family is allocated 4 hectares (40,000 mΒ²), of which 1 hectare (10,000 mΒ²) is actively farmed. The remaining 3 hectares rest in a Seasonal rotation cycle.
Crop Zone (4,000 mΒ²)
Maize, millet, vegetables, fruits, legumes, fodder, hemp, sugar beet, medicinal herbs, spices.
Animal Zone (4,000 mΒ²)
Chickens (40), goats (16). Hardy, adaptable to arid conditions. Provide meat, milk, cheese, yogurt, hides, and manure for crops.
Housing & Infrastructure (2,000 mΒ²)
Home, storage, workshop, water collection, air to water farming system, crop recycling processing for cooking gas. Antenna and computer mesh network for expanding community communication system.

A core innovation of this model is the integration of food production into wild areasβplanting the same food crops, fruit trees, goats, and chickens that family farms produce within the forest and wild corridors.
Feeds Wildlife Naturally
Food-producing trees and crops in wild areas give wildlife access to natural food sources outside family farms, reducing pressure on cultivated fields.
Protects Family Farms
When animals have abundant food sources in the wild, they are less likely to raid family farms, reducing human-wildlife conflict.
Creates a Buffered Landscape
Wild areas become productive ecosystems that support both wildlife and human needs, blurring the false divide between “wild” and “farmed” land.
Strengthens Food Security
In times of drought or crop failure, communities can forage from the wild plantings, creating a distributed food safety net.
